March 2023, Kuala Lumpur - The Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant is a major national infrastructure project financed by Malaysia's Ministry of Finance, managed and owned by Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB). Initiated to address and alleviate the water shortage in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, it is considered a critical part of Malaysia's national water infrastructure.
As part of the process to treat water in Langat 2, there will be byproducts generated in the form of residuals, sedimentation and sludge. These byproducts have to be handled and stored in a proper manner and conforming to PAAB as well as Malaysia's Department of Environment's stringent requirements.
For the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant, Tecgates Engineering's is honored that our design and build proposal for a 2 x 2KM pipe conveyor to handle these byproducts was selected by our partner, the main contractor of the overall project, Salcon Engineering Berhad, and finally by the owner, PAAB. The design and build of the pipe conveyor is scheduled to be completed by 2025.
The design and build of a pipe conveyor system is slightly more complex than normal belt conveyor systems and the selection of our design and build for the 2KM pipe conveyor represents another milestone for Tecgates Engineering.
The 2KM pipe conveyor is critical for the safe and environmentally friendly handling of Langat 2's byproducts, and to support the treatment process to provide a consistent water supply.
Tecgates Engineering is proud to be assisting Salcon Engineering Berhad and PAAB in contributing to the water security of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur with the delivery of our pipe conveyor system.
